Thursday Thirteen - Pet Peeves - 20th Edition

Whether we want to admit it or not, we all have some pet peeves - maybe some of us more than others. Here are 13 of my pet peeves - things that drive me NUTS!
Leave a Comment and I'll pop by and visit your TT!

1. When the toilet paper roll isn't re-filled. I find it in all sorts of interesting places but never where it belongs on the dispenser. It seems only DH and myself know how to do this task. I really should come up with an instruction manual for this task - hmmmm, I don't think that would work they'd probably just use the manual as a place to store the roll of tissues on.

2. Something that drives me nuts is being passed from the parking lane or being passed when I stop to let people cross the road. Do people not realize that sometimes cars stop for a reason? I almost go postal when I see someone coming along to pass me in the parking lane, especially when they do it in the school zone.

3. It never seems to fail that I'll buy something on sale at the store and I'll see the item come up at a different price. This always seems to happen at 5:00 p.m. on a Friday with a line full of people behind me tapping their toes impatiently. The dilemma do I point out the mistake to the clerk or let it slide. I did this once with some bacon and it took the clerk who came 10 minutes to find that I was indeed right and the were on sale 2 for 1. I wish items actually had prices on them. How often do you reach for something on the shelf and the shelf is missing its tag and you have to scurry around to find a 'price checker' machine? I agree that bar coding have made check outs faster but it's also made it a lot easier for pricing to be 'inadvertently' mis-priced.

4. Why is it that the reservoir for windshield washer fluid isn't big enough to hold an entire bottle of washer fluid - or why isn't the bottle of washer fluid the same size as the reservoir. Instead there are all these almost empty bottles kicking around the trunk until there is a desperate need for 1/4 cup of washer fluid - a windshield washer emergency. It might take you to the next gas station if you are lucky.

5. When people stop and leave random comments about my Wordless Wednesday and state that they find it's odd when they are called wordless and yet people feel the need to add captions.....heck it's my blog and if I want to add a caption I'm going to. Maybe next week I'll write a paragraph, that should get someones goat.

6. Local phone company who really only cares about you as a customer when you go to digital phone service. Heck you didn't care about me before when it was $35 to press a button to switch phone service or what about the time I wanted to go back to my bill from 3 months ago - yep $35. Stop phoning me and stop writing me letters, I am not coming back!! I guess they figured they didn't need to be big on 'customer service' when they were the only kid on the block.

7. People who don't pick up after their dogs - Ewwwwww! I would be mortified if I didn't pick up after Oliver. There is nothing worse than going for a walk and seeing all of that poo everywhere. I find that during the winter is the worst - I guess they feel like if no one saw it - it didn't happen.

8. Spammers! Yes, you drive me nuts! If I'm sure that if I needed debt consolidation, a 'string-free' loan or a college education I wouldn't need to get it through your phony sites. I'm not going to help you with your off shore account problems and I definitely don't want any Viagra - thank you very much!

9. All this focus on Global Warming. In the 80's and early 90's it was all about over packaging. We were all complaining and asking companies to reduce their packaging. Today so many things are disposable toilet brushes, swiffer cloths and the list goes on. It gives me the flavor of the month feel. If this stuff was important in the 80's and 90's, why is it no longer talked about?

10. Size 0! I mean honestly ZERO, is that really a size? What is next -1, - 10 etc. 'Hey I'm Susan and if I lose 10 more pounds I won't even exist anymore!'. I think the sizing is just all wonky. What happened to regular sizes like 5, 7 and 9?

11. Wal-Mart's 'Roll Back' pricing advertising. If they are actually rolling back prices shouldn't the prices be going down and not up - and if they roll back prices how come they have weekly sales? Doesn't sale mean that the price goes back to its original price when the sale is over?

12. Close Talkers - Ok I don't mean to be mean but I have a hard time with people who have to be right in my face to talk. I need some personal boundary space! I have a hard time doing anything with someone breathing down my neck. I guess I am just odd that way.

13. Food Pushers - ok this one really gets me. You know how some people just can't leave a 'no thanks' alone. The older ladies who insist I try the cookies they made - 'you can have at least one of each' they smile at me. Or the skinny girl who insists on sharing her weekly goodies - it may be her one treat of the week, but it's enough to make me fly off the wagon at rocket speed. I know they both mean well, but I really don't need to eat all of that baked stuff. I just wish there was a way to say no that wouldn't seem to offend anyone. Maybe I'm the only one who accepts these treats in order to not upset someone.

  3. There's a saying that goes - If Wal-Mart is always rolling back prices, why isn't anything free yet?

    LOL!

  4. I am with you on the excess packaging and all the wastefulness it implies...and I have a feeling that these issues are going to come up again big-time; it's just we seem to have a short attention span (as a nation).

The size zero thing is a really strange development (didn't exist when I was young)---as if women really are more worthy (or would be) if they didn't exist. Resist, little sisters! You have a right to occupy space!

  7. Most of those things drive me crazy too. I think they purposely mis-price at inconvenient times, so people don't argue because they are in a hurry. Happy TT.

  8. Man, am with you all of these.... I was stopped the other day and got passed by an idiot who nearly ended up under the semi that was turning.

  9. Oh, Tea, that's a great list. Food pushers definitely are on my list (as for people cleaning up after their dogs). As for sizing of clothing...what's with that? I'm for one size fits all...

  10. I so agree! I don't know which one would be at the top of my list. Spam email is driving me crazy. Some of that stuff is horrid.

  11. Great TT list. I laughed at #5. You go you little firecracker LOL I also hear you on close talkers and food pushers. My in-laws are horrible for pushing food. They take great offense if you don't fill your face. Of course I could care less, but it can be draining to constantly say "no thank you" "no really, no thank you" "thanks. but no thank you". I want to hit them with a hammer some days.

  12. Ugh... I HATE it when people don't pick up after their animals! I have a neighbor who lets his dog off leash regularly to dump in my yard. We have had a nice talk!
