Don't Hate me just because.....

I am 95% finished my Christmas shopping. It's true, but I hardly believe it yet myself. I was on a mission this year to not get caught up in the last minute shopping that always leaves me feeling very unsatisfied. Now I have made a gift or two, and that has also helped to ease the shopping burden. This past weekend I decided I was going to finish my packages that get sent to the west coast. I am making a 'Sasket' for my Dad and his fiancee(oh they just got engaged). A 'Sasket' is a gift basket with Saskatchewan made products, including some knitted dishcloths for her and a pair of slippers for each of them. I had a lot of fun buying stuff for it. I found some nice Hemp soaps, Saskatoon syrup, jam, hot cider, sparkling cider and tea as well as pemican. I think they might enjoy it. My Dad is from Saskatchewan originally so it is a gift focused on where he came from, I hope they both enjoy it.

So because I wanted to finish up the gifts that get sent away I thought I may as well just bite the bullet and finish up. I want to mail the package to B.C. at the end of the month. I'm a little worried about packaging and keeping everything safe and secure, especially since I have the bottle of sparkling cider in it, we don't need that to break. My mission now is to get the right size box and plenty of packaging materials to prevent anything from breaking. I can't decide if it's better to use Canada Post or the GreyHound bus.

In any event this will hopefully mean that once Advent comes I can just focus on the season and not all the commercialism. I am looking forward to Christmas baking, watching the favorite movies and time with family.

  2. You're the second blogger I've read now who is either done or very close to being done. I say good for you!!! It sounds like it will make things a lot less stressful for you. I never get stressed over Christmas no matter how long I leave getting the gifts. Apparently I just love the season that much that nothing seems to tweak an anxiety in me. Hard to tell it's my favorite time of the year!

  3. Oh, I love Christmas - it's my absolute favorite time of the year. I was nearly born on Christmas. I've had some lean years growing up and early on and it makes me almost relieved to know I'm done. I don't like the countdown to Christmas when I'm not done, maybe it brings some of those worries from Christmases past. I guess it's funny how stuff like that can stick with you.

  5. Does thinking about it count? Way to go!! I would like to get it started this week, it helped to have two of my kids at the mall last week to give me ideas.

    Enjoy your family time!

I'm about 95% done too - the shopping that is - as for the knitting part - well lets just say I'm working on it :)

  7. That is wonderful and what a satisfying feeling to clear part of the preparations up. I am so bad for getting gifts ready and mailing them. I have some prizes to send out and it has been one thing after another. Hopefully I can get my act together.
